About Daisy

I am a certified psychodramatist and I’ve been trained to work with clients individually and in groups to create new roles and to heal and transform old roles. This enables them to develop self-compassion and a shift in perspective which helps them. I am trauma-informed and I utilize SAMSHA’s trauma informed principles as my personal and professional philosophy.

As a Trainer, Educator, Practitioner in psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy, I use experiential action methods to train and support group members to connect to themselves and to each other in ways which build both personal growth and professional expertise.

Some of my clients get attached to the outcome and have a hard time staying present in the moment and finding value in their journey or process. They get locked in a role that has been wounded and needs healing, transformation or change. They judge themselves for not being where they want to be in their lives. We set goals on how to stay present and manage their feelings. I use doubling statements to help make their unspoken feelings and strengths heard. We work on expanding their role repertoire so that they can access their full voice and full range of self. They want to be heard, visible, accepted and validated without being judged.

Although I graduated from Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL in 1986 and from the University of Tampa in 1990 with a degree in Social Science and Secondary Education, I grew up in Connecticut and I am a North-Easterner at heart.  I received a Master of Art’s degree in Community Counseling from Fairfield University in 2000 and a 6th Year Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University in School Counseling in 2011.

I have been a counselor for over 25 years, predominantly working with children and teens and their caregivers and families.  I also work with adults and couples in my private practice.

I am a proud member and Co-Chair of the Sociatry and Social Justice Committee for the ASGPP (American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama). We received an award from the Executive Council in April 2023. In 2024, I received the ASGPP Sociatry and Social Justice award. In 2025, my collective (The Legacy of Liberation BBIPOC Collective) and I received the ASGPP Collaborators’ award.

I have also worked in schools, community mental health agencies, and in private practice.  I am Puerto Rican American and I speak Spanish.

I am offering to work with adults, couples and to run experiential groups in person to introduce the action methods of psychodrama and sociometry. I have trained students at the university graduate level, at the Trial College, online and to professionals working internationally during war time.

I am also a co-founder of the Theater for Social Justice, a not-for-profit organization in Sarasota, Florida, which provides the community with workshops on justice practices using experiential methods of psychodrama and sociodrama.

Check out the Theatre for Social Justice website for upcoming workshops at http://www.theatreforsocialjustice.squarespace.com
